Shnayim (“the app”) is an offline-first Shnayim Mikra tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch, published by Holy Coders (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does and does not collect.
Summary
- No account is required to use the app.
- Your reading progress is stored locally on your device.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data.
- The app contains no third-party analytics and no tracking of any kind.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information.
The app stores the following data only on your device (and, where you have enabled it, in your private Apple App Group container so that the iPhone and Apple Watch apps can share state):
- Your selected region (Israel or Diaspora).
- Your selected default targum mode.
- Your per-assignment reading progress (which segments you have marked as read).
- A locally cached copy of the upcoming and recent assignments’ text.
This data never leaves your device(s) except via standard Apple inter-device sync mechanisms (WatchConnectivity), which we do not control or inspect.
How we use this data
The data above is used solely to:
- Show you the correct weekly assignment.
- Resume reading where you left off.
- Mirror progress between your iPhone and Apple Watch.
There is no server-side processing. There is no profile. There is no advertising.
Third parties
The app does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.
The app’s bundled text data is derived from Sefaria. The text is shipped inside the app and is not fetched at runtime for the standard rolling window. If you explicitly request a date outside the bundled window from the Browse screen, the app will perform a one-shot HTTPS request to Sefaria’s public API to fetch that assignment. No personally identifying information is sent with that request.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your choices
- You can reset all locally stored progress at any time from Settings → Progress → Reset all progress.
- You can delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and publish the new version at the same URL.
